It's the blood orange season!
The season starts with the Tarocco orange. It has flesh that is not as red as other varieties, but is perhaps the sweetest and most flavourful of all varieties. We will then be moving on to Moro blood oranges, which have flesh that's a deeper red and is deliciously sweet and tart with a slight hint of bitterness. The latest in the season will be the Sanguinello blood orange– a luscious deep red that makes for statement dishes.
